As a rule of thumb, dinnerware is typically set like so:
- Cutlery in order of use, so the first meal's utensils go on the outside
- Forks on the left, knives on the right
- Glassware goes above the knives in the top-right corner
- Dessert cutlery is placed above the plate
- Napkins are located underneath or to the left of the forks
