Cocktail Recipes (With an Indian Twist)
It’s nearly summer and that can only mean one thing, time for cocktails! We’ve put together a delicious selection with an Indian flavour.
DIRTY MANGO LASSI
1 mango (peeled stoned and chopped)
4 tbsps Greek yoghurt
1 handful of ice cubes
1 shot glass dark rum
A sprinkle of ground cardamom
METHOD
Place the yoghurt, mango, sugar, ice and rum into a blender until smooth.
Pour the mixture into a glass and sprinkle with cardamom powder.
INDIAN LEMONADE AND GINGER
150g ginger
130g sugar
1 litre water
Juice of 8 lemons
METHOD
Ginger syrup:
Peel the ginger and chop into chunks
Place the ginger, sugar and half the water into a pan and bring to the boil
Reduce the heat and simmer to reduce for approx. 40 minutes to an hour.
Strain the syrup and cool
Strain the lemon juice into the remaining water and add the ginger syrup.
WATERMELON MOJITO
60ml rum
30g fresh lime juice
30ml sugar syrup
8 mint leaves
100g watermelon, cut into cubes
METHOD
Firstly to make your sugar syrup, add 1 cup of sugar and 1 cup of water to a pan
Bring to the boil and simmer then allow to cool.
Mix the watermelon and mint in a cocktail shaker.
Add the rum, lime juice and syrup and shake well.
Pour over ice.
INDIAN SUMMER MARTINI
4 fresh basil leaves
30ml vodka
150ml triple sec liqueur
2 tsps peach simple syrup
150ml ounces soda water
Crushed ice
METHOD
Add basil leaves to a tumbler and muddle
Add crushed ice
Add vodka, triple sec and syrup
Add soda water
Stir and serve
